Early Signs

March 20th -1995, 5500 subway passengers in central Tokyo were severely affected by the deadly toxin Sarin. This gas was released by followers of Aum Shinrikyo, the religion of universal truth now known as Aleph.

Somewhere around this time, Jonathan and Steven developed their pubic hair playing together in a thrash -sic- band which never performed live and thus remains a cult legend… David was vomiting his lungs on stage with Exit 19 somewhere at the same time.

David and Frederik met in 2004 when David attended a show of the punk core band Phoenix Rising that held Fre hostage…

Stijn joined on an occasional jam session with Fre and a mutual friend of theirs…

Lest ye not forget… this story involves many obligatory and cliché confirming elements such as bars, lots of drinking, books filled with small talk and big words, and of course shattered dreams… all this history, however, is lost because of too much or too little sex, drugs & rock-’n-roll..

Darkening days

The very first real Sarin moment happened in autumn 2006 in Fre’s basement in when Stijn and Jona came along for an inspiring thrash/doom/death jam session. Some time later, Jona introduced Steven as a drummer and it did not take long for David to do some screaming and growling for us.

Disaster unfolding

The band started out with a classic for beginners…Motorhead’s Orgasmatron and created about five songs. The first try-out occurred March 24th at jhAvilo when the quintet performed live with local bands Wreckage and Nagrach. And what a first success it turned out to be. Sarin was approached by Sandstorm vzw (npo) , at that time a still unborn organization, founded to promote and support beginning metal bands.
This event appeared to be the beginning of a promising future: Sarin will record their first demo this summer and join the Sandstorm tour next autumn. Check it out to stay in touch with what is happening to Sarin…
