It all started back in 1990 when Wire was only 13 years old. She had just discovered the world of Nintendo and games like Mega Man, Castlevania and Super Mario Bros after being an Atari addict for a few years. Falling in love with the music, Wire started making piano and keyboard arrangements of the songs.
Four years later when Wire got into guitar playing more seriously she also started dreaming of arranging Nintendo songs for guitar, but it wasn't until 1996 that she made her first heavy metal version of a Nintendo song (and that was "The Grim Reaper" from Castlevania which is on the first demo).
Wire found it very hard to find other people who wanted to play this kind of music in a band. So instead she got into a power/heavy metal band called Cryptic Art for one and a half years. That's where she met Kimpa for the first time. Although having great fun in Cryptic Art, Wire never forgot about her real dream. She always wrote all her guitar solos beginning with some notes from Nintendo songs.
In late 1998, both Wire and Kimpa left Cryptic Art and the very same day Wire told Kimpa about the whole Nintendo metal idea and forced him to join the project. They worked for months choosing the right songs to arrange and Kimpa came up with the brilliant name of the project - Game Over - one night on the subway.
Kimpa learned how to make drum programming on the computer (they didn't want to waste any time finding a real drummer and they also didn't want other people to join the project) while Wire arranged all the five songs on the "Nintendo Metal" demo. They worked for another two years (doing a lot of other things as well, like drinking too much booze and sleeping too much) before they started recording. It was a time filled with blood, sweat and tears - Wire and Kimpa argued every single time they worked on something that had to do with the project.
Antichristine, a friend, told Wire about a fantastic vocalist named Timo. Wire heard a couple of songs with Timo's vocals on it and she decided that he was the right man for Game Over. She contacted him and he liked the material. The first demo, "Nintendo Metal" was released in February 2002.
In September 2002 Game Over recruited a new member: the old Cryptic Art drummer, Fog. Since Game Over now had a real drummer, Kimpa felt like he was no longer needed. Unfortunately Fog got back pain and couldn't play for many months. Wire then found a new drummer, Zoid, from the death metal band Satariel. Zoid and Wire had met at a party about one and a half years earlier where they had discussed video game music.
Zoid recorded the drums for the second demo, NESperado, in spring-time 2004 and Wire recorded her guitar parts in the summer. After that the band had problems with vocalists and recruited Criss Blackburn from 7 Gates but got back to Tim again in 2006. Finally the demo was released in May 2006.
