| There are some bands that we discovered by blind chance and ultimately prove very excellent. For my part, I discovered the band The Moon And The Nightspirit through the festival Trolls & Legends at Mons in 2007, At that time, the group introduced Rego Rejtem but also their first album Of Dreams Forgotten And Fables Untold. Two years after Rego Rejtem, the young Hungarian duo (the group was founded in 2003) offers their third opus called Ösforrás. Such as previous two albums, Ösforrás was released on label Equilibrium Music. The album was recorded at Studio Elysion. The fantastic artwork of the cover was once again directed by the vocalist of the band Agnes Toth, painter in her lost time.
Since the first album Of Dreams Forgotten And Fables Untold, the group evolved in a very intense folk domain, their music is based on the traditional Hungarian folklore and legends, lyrics contain a strong spirituality. Ösforrás remains on the same line style, although it proposes a more tribal / exotic approach with intense rituals dedicated to the old and eternal traditions. With Ösforrás, the Hungarian duo honors the stories of elders / gods of the forest, those who know the secrets of nature and who walked on the path of eternal light. We swim in traditional paganism stories. By and large, the musical peculiarities of the group remain the same; this album is not a revolution but rather a continuum. The style of the group was marked with the first album, this is understandable. However, little subtlety of the album, the collector edition also contains an exclusive track with guests Catarina Raposo (Dwelling), Saskia Dommisse (Poets to their Beloved) and Alessandra Santovito (Hexperos).
Ösforrás is an excellent album, however, when we know the two predecessors, it does not surprise, I enjoyed being baffled by some additional stylistic subtleties. The album is well conceived, the workload must be considerable to achieve such a sharp of realization and there is no doubt on this. We always want to be transported in its ancient forest and to live these stories as an intense moment, lean at the foot of a tree, close your eyes, feel the energy of nature elements. It’s unfortunate that Ösforrás was not more exciting. People who like bands such as Faun, Ataraxia, Dargaard, Ophelia's Dream or Hexperos should enjoy this album without any doubt. |
