| The young Finnish based band is on his second album, after a first album appreciated by the public The Scope, auditors are entitled to expect a Light On The Path even better or at least equivalent. The mission that the Finnish duo's has given is to provide emotional acoustic music, so they are at the boundaries of several genres such as acoustic folk, neofolk, emo rock or shoegaze. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered between May and December 2009, their label is Auerbach Tonträger.
The group does not leave away from their objective with Light On The Path, they offer a very emotional acoustic music. However, sometimes we have to look deep to find the emotional side of their songs. All items are available to provide emotional sounds but the result is often slow to arrive. In most titles, I have the impression that music flirt with the sounds of lounge music coupled with rock rather than really have sounds that give you the shivers. I think this blocking is related to the monotony of singing, it requires more rising and intensity so that the music can grow in sensitivity. That said, some tracks affected me even more as Now That We've Spent All The Light, Wall Of Water and the end of Human Abstract with his sample. We can feel their progressive metal past (ex band name : Manifold Object) with the solo electric guitar on Alms Of The Sun. Close your eyes, it almost seems like The Devin Townsend Project with Ki album. Light On The Path is halfway between Ulver, the psychedelic side less, Anathema, the impulsive side less and Nihil, the depression side less.
Light On The Path is not a bad album at all, the piano melodies are pungent and acoustic symphonic structures are passionate. However, if we take the album as a whole, it still lacks depth and rising to better differentiate the intensity of emotional moments. The only attempts of this kind of depth are too shy, making music rather monotonous. Fans of The Scope may be deceived; this talented duo had accustomed us to better.
