| In view of the artwork of Destrunkten, we can expect either atmospheric black metal with heavy but full of emotions atmospheres or an acoustic sensory ballad in nature. With their second album, Neun Welten and their atmospheric neoclassic literally plunges us into a deep forest of enchanted world. Neun Welten (which means nine worlds) is a neofolk German based band signed under the label Auerbach Tonträger. The artwork design is signed by Fursy Teyssier (Alcest, Les Discrets, Amesoeurs), this one was inspired by the music of the album.
Like a walk in the woods, kindness of the music emanates from Destrunkten awakens all our senses from the first minute to the last. No wonder, when we know that Neun Welten found their inspiration from the mysticism of nature and the power it imposes. To emphasize this sensory adventure, the group uses only acoustic instruments. For example, as can be heard in such an album of :Of the wand & the moon:, the sound of fingers sliding on guitar strings strengthens the natural purity of this music. This music exudes a reassuring warmth even if at times the tempo accelerate mainly by the double pedal and the rest of the instruments pushed to their maximum (Jarknez, Schein), nothing frightening so far, peace is never far away. I especially like Destrunken I, Destrunken II and Tau, combining both calm part and more adventurous while holding the listener spellbound.
Sometimes, it’s good to take up this kind of music, to be lulled for 55 minutes and take the opportunity to escape our spirit peacefully. Destrunken is the worthy successor of Vergessene Pfade, Neun Welten will not disappoint fans of the first hour. I advise this album to anyone who wants to set aside blastbeat at 240 BPM and return to simple but effective values.
