| Although their style sounds quite NWOBHM, members of Hammer are coming from Italy. Much closer to bands such as AC/DC and Aerosmith as their compatriots Rhapsody Of Fire or Secret Sphere, Hammer releases with their second demo: No Way Out, a very bluesy heavy metal album. The recording quality is quite poor, is it to give it a very rock'n'roll old school or simply by lack of budget?
The title of this album appears to be intended to the stage, we can feel this by the lake of the musical depth but also by the draft production. This album looks more to a compilation of concert’s titles that songs related to each other in a structured album. From beginning to end of the album, titles follow and all look alike: a little dynamic and funny, but resulting lack of originality and quality. In the end, after a few titles, it's a little bit bored, waiting in vain the personal touch of the group that never comes.
The group is certainly in their first steps and always seeks its own musical identity. This would allow them to move away from the heavy metal stereotypes heard too much and too classical, unless their target is to be a tribute band. The album disappoints, which does not make things easier for a demo release. Nevertheless, I remain convinced that Hammer must excel on the stage.
