In the world of melodic death metal, everyone surely knows the great band Soilwork. This band with other like In Flames, At The Gates, Dark Tranquillity and few more were the first actors in the outpouring melodeath in Gothenburg. However, we know much less Disarmonia Mundi, another group of melodic death where Bjorn "Speed" Strid sang too. In fact, this project is the masterpiece of Ettore Rigotti. The group was formed in late 1999 and had released his first album Nebularium in 2002 then followed two studio albums with more established identity. After a silence of three years, Ettore Rigotti formed his own label Coroner Records and took this advantage to release a compilation album featuring a remastered version of Nebularium and The Restless Memories Ep which is simply a combination of previous unreleased tracks.

The compilation Nebularium - The Restless Memoirs EP is interesting for one point, it allows to discern the band’s evolution. Indeed, on the one hand, Nebularium was close to dark melodic death in the vein of formations such as Amon Amarth or Insomnium. By the way, as a first release, the musical identity was not yet completely clear. On the other hand, the album The Restless Memoirs EP is much more coherent and structured; now, the style is closer to Soilwork, In Flames or Mnemic. Although Björn "Speed" Strid was no longer on vocals, the structure established in the previous revealing albums (Fragments Of D-Generation and Mind Tricks) remains. Nevertherless, one common point between Nebularium and The Restless Memories EP; the last track is quieter as a ballad should be.

I must admit that I prefer even more energy and originality of the first album; The Restless Memories EP, although the EP is good, comes too much formatted with what we can hear everywhere currently. For example, there are similar sounds from bands such as Darkane in Chester, In Flames in Flare or else Sonic Syndicate in Kneeling On Broken Glass. Personaly,I like much more titles like Into D.M., Blue Lake or else Demiurgo from Nebularium : darker and powerful! So, I’m waiting for the next album The Isolation Game and I’m curious to hear the chosen evolution of the band.
